The Devils were fighting for their playoff lives on Saturday when they hosted the Habs but to Montreal’s benefit, they folded without much of a fight as the Habs prevailed with a 3-1 victory.
Similar to February, March was a wildly inconsistent month for the Montreal Canadiens. The Habs began the month with 4 straight wins, only to falter when Zdeno Chara broke Max Pacioretty’s neck on March 8th.
With four losses in the past five games and a meagre 5 goals scored over that psan, doubt about the Canadiens playoff spot…
The desperate Hurricanes, who trail the Rangers by 3 points for the final playoff spot, kept their post-season hopes…
The Canadiens got two quick goals in the first period on Tuesday night vs Atlanta to end a near 200 minute scoring drought, and played a solid team game to earn their first points in over a week, defeating the Thrashers 3-1.

Heading into Thursday’s game in Boston, some felt that the key to the game was that the Habs get through it without sustaining any more injuries.
