After a bye in the opening round of the playoffs as a result of winning the North Division, Laval will get their postseason officially underway on Wednesday as they begin a best-of-five series against Toronto.
It wasn’t a great final week of the regular season for Laval who went to Toronto for a pair of games and lost them both. However, with Syracuse only winning one of their games, the Rocket finished the season atop the North Division, giving them home ice advantage for two rounds if they advance that far.
Laval finished up the home portion of the 2025-26 regular season schedule last week with a pair of games against the Senators. They managed to get three of four points but the one they left on the table could come back to bite them.
Back home to kick off April, Laval had a light week last week with a pair of games against Calgary, one of the weaker teams in the league. However, they were only able to pick up a split but they still hold onto first in the division for the time being.
The month of March represented the beginning of the stretch run for Laval while several of Montreal’s prospects kicked off their playoffs. Here are their top performers.
Laval had an opportunity to close out March on a high note and solidify their top seed in the North Division. They didn’t do that. Instead, they lost all three games although they at least managed to pick up two points.
The Habs have agreed to terms with another one of their defence prospects, announcing on Friday that they’ve signed Owen Protz to a three-year, entry-level contract that begins next season.
Last week was a light one on the schedule for the Rocket with only two games. They took care of business in both of them, officially securing a playoff spot in the process although there’s still lots to play for seeding-wise down the stretch.
The month of February saw several players in Laval have strong months offensively to keep them atop the North Division. It was a quieter month for some of Montreal’s other youngsters, leading to some new names in our three stars.
Laval had a pair of divisional games on the road last week, including their last chance to gain ground on Syracuse, a team that has been gaining on them lately. They were able to do that, picking up a shootout win over the Crunch but that was preceded by a disappointing loss to Utica.
