December was a good month for the Habs but it was a quieter month for many of their prospects, many of which had extended holiday breaks. Nonetheless, a handful stood out among the rest to earn a spot in our three stars.
After a tough stretch against Syracuse to end 2024, Laval started off 2025 on a good note with a pair of victories over Abbotsford while Cayden Primeau’s season debut with the Rocket was a strong one.
There are some promising prospects at the top of this draft class. Montreal’s early-season performance suggested they could very well land in this range again, meaning their scouts should be keeping a close eye on these players.
Laval had won all four games against Syracuse heading into their two matchups last week. However, they struggled in both games, failing to secure a point to slide out of the top spot in the division.
With the Habs set to resume their road trip, they have brought up some extra insurance between the pipes as the team announced that Jakub Dobes has been recalled from Laval.
The 2025 World Junior Hockey Championship is set to run from December 26th through January 5th. While the Habs have been well-represented in recent years, it’s not the case as only one prospect will take part. We’ll keep track of his stats here.

Laval’s strong start to the season wasn’t believed to be sustainable and this past week showed that they’re starting to struggle, particularly their top forwards who were held off the scoresheet. However, an unlikely breakout game from the fourth line helped end the week on a winning note.
