Intent on proving that last season’s trip to the Eastern Conference Finals was no fluke, the Montreal Canadiens bolted out of the gates. With an 8-2-1 record in October, the Habs sat in first in the East and second overall at the end of Halloween night.
The annual Canadian Western road trip hasn’t been kind to the Habs over the years and this season was no exception as they sputtered to a 1-1-1 record.
We’ve hit the ten game mark on the 2014-15 campaign and it’s safe to say that in terms of their record, the Habs have exceeded expectations as they sit atop the Eastern Conference with an 8-2 mark.
The Habs continued their hot start to the season with a pair of home victories to stay unbeaten at the Bell Centre.
On Saturday night, the Habs were looking to improve their league-best record to 7-1 while at least partially avenging their loss to the New York Rangers in last year’s Eastern Conference Final.
Conference Final Revenge? That might be on the minds of many Habs fans, but the players claim it’s just another game in a long season as they try to improve to 7-1 on the year on Saturday night.
Two weeks into the season, the Canadiens sit in a tie atop the NHL standings and optimism is high amongst much of the fan base.
The Montreal Canadiens left it to the end on Tuesday night as they reversed a late one goal deficit and rallied for a 2-1 overtime win over the visiting Detroit Red Wings.
The week couldn’t have gotten off to much worse of a start for the Habs but they finished it off well with a pair of victories.
