The Habs are adding some responsibilities on John Sedgwick’s plate, announcing that they’ve appointed him as GM of the Laval Rocket while also signing him to a multi-year contract extension.

The Habs put forth two fairly strong outings last week along with one poor one. As it turned out, they lost the games they played well in and won the one that they didn’t.

After a hard-fought loss in Florida, the Habs looked to leave the Sunshine State on a winning note as they visited Tampa Bay on Saturday. Once again, they kept pace for long stretches but the end result was the same 4-3 shootout defeat.

Tuesday was a matchup between a team on a long losing streak and one on a really long losing streak. Montreal, of course, had the shorter one and put it to an end with a 4-2 victory over Arizona.

The Habs had a three-in-four set this past week and while they didn’t play all that poorly in any of them, they ultimately came up short in all three, failing to record a point while extending their losing streak to five straight.

Montreal made a pair of roster moves before their game tonight in Pittsburgh.  First, they claimed centre Colin White off waivers from the Penguins.  Brandon Gignac was placed on waivers in a corresponding move.
