HabsWorld.net --

The Habs are adding some responsibilities on John Sedgwick’s plate, announcing that they’ve appointed him as GM of the Laval Rocket while also signing him to a multi-year contract extension.  The exact term of the deal was not disclosed.

Sedgwick has been with the Canadiens since 2013, initially starting as their Director of Legal Affairs after working in the NHL’s Hockey Operations department.  He became a VP of Hockey Ops in 2017 and was later appointed as Assistant GM as well.

Sedgwick has been Laval’s representative on the AHL Board of Governors since 2017 and has had a direct role in getting their affiliation with ECHL Trois-Rivieres up and running as well.  Accordingly, the promotion is a logical one and likely covers some elements he was already doing with some new ones.

In addition to his new role, Sedgwick will continue his previous duties which included salary cap management, contract negotiations, and CBA-related matters.
