Following a strong showing on the road in Ottawa, the Habs went to Chicago on Sunday looking to make it two straight road victories. It was far from a pretty effort but the penalty kill stepped up to help Montreal get a 3-2 win.
While the Habs struggled a bit in November, the same can’t be said for many of their prospects who put up strong showings. Those are highlighted in our three stars.
With Noah Juulsen nearing a return to the lineup, the Habs needed to free up a roster spot and Xavier Ouellet was the casualty. He cleared waivers on Saturday, paving the way for the Habs to send him to Laval.
Some additions to Laval’s defence yielded some early dividends but unfortunately, the wins continue to be difficult to come by for the Rocket.
The return of Shea Weber was a nice boost to Montreal’s lineup but it didn’t dramatically change their recent fortunes as they dropped two of three games.
Following a strong showing on Saturday, the Habs looked to make it two straight wins as they hosted San Jose on Sunday night. However, they got off to a slow start which proved to be the difference as they lost 3-1.
Nikita Scherbak’s time with the Habs has come to an end after the Kings claimed him off waivers on Sunday.
The Habs faced off against the Rangers on Saturday as they looked to snap a five-game losing streak. They did just that as they put forth one of their better performances of the season en route to a 5-2 win.
With a roster that is lacking in high-end prospects, it’s not surprising to see Laval struggling early on. Unfortunately, many of their veterans aren’t pulling their weight which is noted in our first quarter report cards.
