January wasn’t the best of months for the Habs but it was Laval’s best one of the season while many unsigned prospects had strong showings as well. Here are our three stars for the month.
After sending Rafael Harvey-Pinard down to Laval on Friday, the Habs added some reinforcements for their upcoming road trip on the West Coast, announcing the recalls of Owen Beck and Logan Mailloux.
While getting to the victories wasn’t necessarily easy, Laval was able to continue their strong run as of late, picking up three more wins. All three came from Cayden Primeau who is now 7-0 since being sent down.
It wasn’t a great week for the Rocket in terms of how they played their three games. However, they were able to pull off a pair of third-period comebacks to put together a fairly successful week overall.
After basically three weeks at home, Laval was back on the road last week with a pair of stops against a key division rival in Cleveland. They took care of business in the first game but came up just short in the second.
December was a good month for the Habs but it was a quieter month for many of their prospects, many of which had extended holiday breaks. Nonetheless, a handful stood out among the rest to earn a spot in our three stars.
After a tough stretch against Syracuse to end 2024, Laval started off 2025 on a good note with a pair of victories over Abbotsford while Cayden Primeau’s season debut with the Rocket was a strong one.
There are some promising prospects at the top of this draft class. Montreal’s early-season performance suggested they could very well land in this range again, meaning their scouts should be keeping a close eye on these players.
Laval had won all four games against Syracuse heading into their two matchups last week. However, they struggled in both games, failing to secure a point to slide out of the top spot in the division.
