The ping pong balls have been drawn and the Habs now know where their first selection will fall at the draft in June. While they didn’t land the top spot, they did move up to third overall.

The Habs have once again dipped into the junior free agent market, inking centre Alexandre Alain to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Laval failed to save their best for last as a pair of losses capped their season while solidifying their dead-last position in the AHL. It wasn’t all bad, however, as a pair of players received some good news to end their year on a higher note.

The final full month of the regular season for most of Montreal’s prospects saw a couple of newcomers make their mark to earn spots in our March Prospect 3 Stars.

Although they weren’t able to burn the first year of his contract last week, the Habs were still able to get Jake Evans under contract, inking him to a two-year, entry-level deal on Monday.

The Habs added to their prospect pool late on Saturday, inking free agent forward Hayden Verbeek to a three-year, entry-level contract. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

February wasn’t a great month for the Habs and it wasn’t much better for most of their prospects. A handful of players stood out among the rest and are featured in our February 3 Stars.

The Habs locked up a pair of prospects on Wednesday, signing OHL forwards Will Bitten and Michael Pezzetta to three-year, entry-level contracts. Both deals will begin next season.
