The 2022 Olympics are underway and while NHL players won’t be participating, the Habs will still have some representation in the event with two of their prospects being selected to play. As is our tradition, we’ll keep track of their stats here.
While the week ended on a disappointing note, it was still a good showing for Laval in the second half of their road trip as they managed to pick up three of a possible four points off the top team in the AHL.
There were plenty of COVID-related postponements in January, resulting in some different players getting the nod for our prospects of the month.
In this third group of prospects in our 2021-22 rankings, we have some later-round picks that have slowly upped their value over the past year or so.
Laval kicked off a two-week road trip with a pair of games in Texas last week. While the Stars are among the weaker teams in the AHL, they were bolstered by the return of Anton Khudobin. In the end, the Rocket picked up a split by eking out a win in the second game.
In our second group of prospects, we have some players who are longer-term projects plus a couple that have already made their NHL debut but have a questionable long-term fit with the team.
It was a quiet week for Laval but a good one as the Rocket won a big divisional battle against Utica in their lone game. After getting some players back for that game, they’re also set to get some more help on the injury front for their upcoming contests this week.
After an extended break due to COVID, Laval – or at least what was left of them – resumed their season last week. Despite missing many key regulars, they still impressed with a pair of victories in their three games.
December was a tough month not just for the Habs but most of their prospects as many only played a handful of games. Nevertheless, a few stood out amongst the rest to earn a spot in the prospect three stars.
