Generating scoring chances wasn’t a problem for Laval last week. However, capitalizing on enough of them to win was indeed a problem as the Rocket managed only a pair of overtime losses, ending their season-long home stand on a losing note.
Laval’s hot and cold start to the season continued last week. They had their best game of the year only to follow it up with a lopsided loss the very next day and through the first three weeks, they have the lowest points percentage in the conference.
Offence was hard to come by for Laval last week as they weren’t able to average two goals per game in their three contests. Cayden Primeau’s shutout against Springfield secured them one victory but that was all they were able to accomplish.
Despite a sluggish start to their season last week, expectations are pretty high for Laval this year. There is a decent veteran core with a better group of prospects than there have been recently. However, that’s not necessarily a recipe for success at the AHL level.
Laval’s season didn’t get off to a good start as they were only able to manage a single point in their two games against division rival Belleville while getting some bad news on the injury front.
Filip Mesar’s time with Laval has come to a quick conclusion as the Habs announced on Saturday that the winger has been sent to Kitchener of the OHL.
The Habs have signed another one of their 2021 draft picks, announcing on Friday that they’ve signed defenceman William Trudeau to a three-year, entry-level deal.
After Laval cut Miguel Tourigny earlier this week, it looked like the defenceman was heading back to the QMJHL for his overage year. That won’t be the case anymore as he has signed a one-year deal with Dukla Trencin in Slovakia.
For the second day in a row, the Habs have signed one of their OHL prospects as they announced that they’ve inked defenceman Logan Mailloux to a three-year, entry-level contract.
