The first half of the season has come and gone and we’ll be doing our next set of grades shortly. But what about assessing the performance of Montreal’s management and coaching staff?
On P.K. Subban Night at the Bell Centre on Thursday, it was another electrifying talent that made a big impact for the Habs as a pair of goals from Cole Caufield paced them to a 4-3 victory over Nashville.
As part of our quarterly report cards, we want to hear from you. What grades would you give Montreal’s players for their performance in the second quarter of the season?
December was a tough month for the Habs when it came to picking up wins. A few players had some strong showings, earning themselves one of our three stars as voted by our readers.
After securing their first win of 2023 on Saturday, the Habs followed it up with one of their poorer performances of the season on Monday night. Seattle was able to pot three goals in the first period and that was more than enough as they picked up the 4-0 victory.
2023 didn’t exactly get off to the best of starts for the Habs with a pair of tough losses although they were able to rebound on Saturday to salvage a victory and snap what was a seven-game losing streak.
The third period on Saturday night featured a rare offensive outburst from both teams as they combined for five goals. The Habs picked up the extra one of those and that was the difference-maker as they picked up a 5-4 victory over St. Louis.
The Habs returned home on Thursday following a tough road trip. However, things weren’t much better at the Bell Centre as Montreal couldn’t muster up much offensively, falling 4-1 to the Rangers.
It has been a rough few weeks for the Habs but from a difficult December comes hope for the future; the Canadiens have a lot to look forward to in 2023.
