The Habs rebounded quite nicely this past week, picking up wins in all three of their games to give themselves a small cushion on a playoff position.

Following a strong showing on the road in Ottawa, the Habs went to Chicago on Sunday looking to make it two straight road victories. It was far from a pretty effort but the penalty kill stepped up to help Montreal get a 3-2 win.

With Noah Juulsen nearing a return to the lineup, the Habs needed to free up a roster spot and Xavier Ouellet was the casualty. He cleared waivers on Saturday, paving the way for the Habs to send him to Laval.

Carey Price kept the Habs in the game as the Sens played an intense first period on Thursday night. The Habs took over for the last 40 minutes of play and were rewarded with a 5-2 road win to sweep the mini-series.

When speaking of lack of experience, the Habs have often been on the wrong side of this discussion since the start of the season. On Tuesday, it was the Habs turn to take advantage of the inexperience on the Ottawa back end as they skated away with a 5-2 win.

The return of Shea Weber was a nice boost to Montreal’s lineup but it didn’t dramatically change their recent fortunes as they dropped two of three games.
