It wasn’t pretty but the Habs managed a 5-4 come from behind victory over the Devils that required a shootout to get done. It was the type of game and effort (inconsistent) that perfectly displayed why the Habs are on the outside looking in as of now.

The Habs had a busy first week after the All-Star break and while they managed to pick up a pair of victories, they certainly left some points on the table as well.

The Montreal Canadiens continued their big weekend with a game against the red-hot Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday afternoon. The Habs were unable to overcome some unlucky breaks in this one, as they dropped the game 4-3 in regulation.

The Canadiens kicked off their Super Bowl weekend with a matinee matchup against their division rivals, the Florida Panthers. It was a perfect performance from the Canadiens, as they took a 1-0 lead early in the opening frame, and never looked back en route to a dominating 4-0 victory.

Brendan Gallagher made his long-awaited return to the lineup when the Habs took on the Sabres in a battle of teams looking to keep their small playoff hopes alive. After a miserable opening frame, the Habs scored two quick goals early in the second and did not look back as they picked up a critical 3-1 win on the road.

Another night, another decent effort, another deception in the results column. The Habs played a decent game on Monday but the game seems to get away from them entirely on the mental side of things and this was no exception as they fell 4-2 to Washington.

There are some that would like to see the Montreal Canadiens remove Marc Bergevin from his role as General Manager. However, those fans should be careful what they wish for as with a small pool of inexperienced options to choose from, the alternatives are no better than Bergevin.

The left side of Montreal’s defence corps has been an issue that Marc Bergevin created and several years later, he has yet to properly address it.
