In a game where the Habs appeared stymied by the Blue Jackets neutral zone checking, Carey Price came up huge and stole two points in a 3-2 shootout victory on Tuesday night.
The Habs haven’t been known from their offensive production from their back end in recent years but Montreal’s defence picked up seven goals this past week to help the team pick up five of a possible six points.
It was a rematch of the 1993 Stanley Cup Final as the Kings rolled into the Bell Centre to take on the Habs on Saturday night. Montreal had a great first period, scoring three goals, and they were able to hang on for a 3-2 win.
The Montreal Canadiens were back in action on Thursday night in Philadelphia looking to build off of their exciting victory over the Boston Bruins Tuesday. The Habs got off to a rough start but were able to claw their way back and pick up a single point in an 3-2 overtime loss.
Through the first month and a bit of the season, the Habs are mostly on the right track and should be in the mix for a playoff position throughout.
In what can only be described as a playoff atmosphere and playoff-like game on the ice, both the Bruins and the Habs tried mightily to overcome off nights from their goaltenders. In the end, some defensive changes proved beneficial for Montreal in a 5-4 victory.
The Habs picked up where they left off after a strong showing last season, bringing a relentless style of play and balanced scoring to the new campaign. Who do you think got off to the best start?
While it ended on a down note, the Habs still had a successful road trip through the Western Conference after picking up a pair of victories in three games.
The Canadiens were looking to win their fourth straight game when they closed out their road trip in Dallas on Saturday night. However, the Habs could not get any offence generated in this one, and ended up on the wrong side of a 4-1 score.
