It was a light week for Laval as they only had a pair of road games on the schedule with their lone victory coming against Toronto in what was a thrilling comeback as they hang around the playoff mix in the North Division.
The past week for the Habs featured three different types of games – a close one, a blowout loss, and a mostly blowout win. In the end, the end result in the standings was pretty much the same as they picked up just the one victory which led to some more desperate roster movement than usual.
Montreal got a rare offensive burst in the second period on Saturday night, scoring four times. Nashville was able to make it a close contest in the third but in the end, the Habs were able to skate away with a 6-3 victory.
At some point, the Habs will need to name a captain. But with no one really being ready to step into that role just yet, the team is right to go without one for the time being.
The Habs never showed up on Thursday night and Cayden Primeau could only hold the Penguins off the board for so long. Primeau was pulled after allowing five goals through the first two periods while Pittsburgh added another in the third for a 6-0 shutout victory.
The Habs made a roster swap on Thursday in advance of their game against Pittsburgh, recalling Cole Caufield from AHL Laval. To make room on the roster, Alex Belzile was sent to the Rocket.
After a tough weekend on the road, Laval returned home last week for a trio of games and put forth some of their better performances of the year to pick up four points to get back to a .500 points percentage.
As expected, Adam Brooks’ time with the Canadiens organization has come to an end as the Golden Knights claimed him on waivers on Wednesday.
After a disappointing loss to the Bruins on Sunday, the Habs were back in action on Tuesday in New York to face the Rangers. Once again, their performance was strong at some points and poor at others and the end result was another close loss as they fell 3-2.
