After a lengthy search, the Habs have found their next general manager as Kent Hughes was named the 18th GM in franchise history on Tuesday morning.

For a brief moment, the Habs didn’t have anyone in COVID protocol.  That time has come to an end, however, as the team announced that Cole Caufield and Joel Armia have tested positive and have entered protocol.

For a team sitting dead last in the league, it was generally thought that Montreal had hit rock bottom. Monday afternoon’s contest against the Coyotes proved that this was not exactly true just yet as the Habs looked completely disinterested in a 5-2 loss.

The Habs were fairly busy in advance of Monday’s matinee affair against Arizona.  They placed Alex Belzile on waivers, sent some players to the minors, and announced several injury updates.

After another extended break due to attendance restrictions in Quebec, the Habs were back in action this past week as they reached the midway point of their now ten-game road trip. While they got some reinforcements back, the end results were pretty much the same.

The final month of 2021 was one to largely try to forget about if you’re a fan of the Habs but a few players did well enough to earn the votes from our readers to make them one of the three stars of the month.

The Habs had some good moments in Chicago on Thursday in the second half of a back-to-back set but in the end, they fell 3-2 in OT with the winner being counted on a particularly strange play following two separate reviews.

The Habs had good starts to periods and played physical enough to make it interesting on Wednesday in Boston, but their veterans once again left the kids out to dry while the veteran Bruins took advantage of the gutless effort offered by some of the so-called leaders on the Habs, skating away with a 5-1 victory.

Still missing several forwards, the Habs added some depth up front on Wednesday as they claimed Rem Pitlick off waivers from Minnesota.
