Back on home ice last week, Laval had a trio of matchups against divisional rivals. While they won two of three, the one they lost could very well prove costly down the stretch.
The beginning of March saw the Habs head out West for their California road trip. They pulled off third-period comebacks in all three of them but even with that, they were only able to come away with three of a possible six points.
Friday was the NHL’s trade deadline and with the Habs in a playoff spot, many wondered if they’d be making a trade. However, 3 PM ET came and went with Montreal staying on the sidelines.
The Rocket had a bit of an offensive surge last week, scoring just shy of five goals per game on average. Unfortunately, it didn’t amount to much success as they still lost two of their three contests.
After the long Olympic break, the Habs officially kicked off the stretch run with a pair of games to close out February. While they left a point on the table, it was still a strong showing while they gained a bit of ground on those chasing them for a playoff spot.
The 2026 NHL trade deadline is now less than a week away. Beyond draft picks, what other potential trade chips might the Canadiens be willing to part with?
Even after graduating several prospects to the NHL in recent years, the Habs still have one of the deeper prospect pools in the league. However, some of those have struggled or underachieved this season, resulting in their stock falling within the organization.
The road wasn’t as kind to Laval last week as it has been at times this season. They started with a loss and had a clunker in the final game. However, they managed to pick up wins in the other to still salvage a reasonable showing overall.

After the All-Star break, Laval returned home to wrap up their home stand. With a roster augmented by the return of several healthy players, they took care of business in both of their games to maintain their lead in the North Division.
