Despite some poor play, the Habs are off to a decent start to their season, taking three of four points this past week. The same can’t be said for St. John’s, whose lacklustre efforts left them with a trio of losses and a lot of penalties to open their campaign.
Right winger Sven Andrighetto cleared waivers on Saturday and has been assigned to St. John’s. The team waived him on Friday to open a roster spot to activate defenceman Jeff Petry off of injured reserve.

The Habs are one step closer to finalizing their season-opening roster as they assigned Michael McCarron to St. John’s on Monday while goaltender Mike Condon was claimed on waivers by Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
The Habs made a small trade on Saturday afternoon, dealing winger Tim Bozon to Florida in exchange for defenceman Jonathan Racine. The team has assigned Racine to St. John’s of the AHL.
Defenceman Mark Barberio cleared demotion waivers on Thursday. The Habs have subsequently assigned him to St. John’s of the American Hockey League.
The fourth and middle group of this year’s Prospect Rankings is the least experienced of the group as four of the five players were playing at the junior or collegiate level for at least most of last season.
The Habs made their second round of cuts in as many days on Monday morning as nine more players were re-assigned, two of which will be hitting the waiver wire at noon EST.
