The week didn’t start off well for the Habs but it ended on their highest note of the season with a shellacking of Colorado. As for St. John’s, they split the final two games of their home stand but remain outside of a playoff spot as they embark on a four week road trip.

The Canadiens will be without two of their top three centres for the foreseeable future as both Alex Galchenyuk and David Desharnais will miss the next 6-8 weeks with knee injuries.

Montreal’s California trip didn’t go quite as bad as usual as the Habs managed a win while dropping a pair of close contests as well. In St. John’s, they didn’t play particularly well in all but one of their four games but managed to pick up a pair of wins thanks to a different goalie stepping up.

It wasn’t pretty at times but the Habs still had a successful week, taking two of three games to hang on to top spot in the standings. In St. John’s, they too had some rough stretches en route to splitting a weekend series against Boston’s farm team.

The Habs had their first off week of the season but still managed to pick up three of six points to stay at the top of the standings. In St. John’s, they had a successful end to their road trip, taking three of four games despite having a somewhat depleted lineup.

Although Nathan Beaulieu is only in his second season as a full-time NHL player, the time is quickly coming for GM Marc Bergevin to make a decision on what his future with the Habs will be.

Home ice continues to be great for the Habs who have now won ten straight at the Bell Centre to start the year to set a new franchise record. Things weren’t as rosy for St. John’s though who lost both of their games to kick off their road trip.
