Montreal’s road and Western Conference struggles collided this week with predictable results as they dropped all three of their games. Meanwhile, Laval managed to pick up a victory over their three contests but continue to have issues keeping the puck out of their own net.
The 2018 NHL Trade Deadline is now less than two weeks away which means it’s time to kick off our annual Trade Odds series. First up is a look at the Laval Rocket.
The Habs have locked up their backup goalie of the future for the foreseeable future as they inked Charlie Lindgren to a three-year contract extension.
The Habs played well this past week but it didn’t translate to much in the way of success as they lost both of their games. In Laval, the Rocket put forth some of their better efforts as of late but unfortunately for them, it didn’t result in too many victories either.
The Habs went into Philadelphia on Thursday night hoping to pick up where they left off over the weekend. They weren’t able to accomplish that, however, as they fell 5-3 to snap their two-game winning streak.
January was a rough month in Laval but several players still put forth strong months. In the amateur ranks, several CHL players had strong months and earn high rankings in our January 3 Stars.
While the start of the week wasn’t great for the Habs, they followed it up with a pair of strong games over the weekend to end on a high note. Meanwhile, there were no high notes in Laval as they got pummelled in their lone matchup.
Sunday’s matinee affair against the Senators won’t go down as one for the ages but the Habs managed to play well enough to pick up a 4-1 victory to sweep the weekend.
With Montreal’s forwards struggling to score, their defence corps picked up the slack on Saturday afternoon by scoring four goals on the way to a 5-2 victory over the Ducks to kick off Super Bowl weekend.
