While it ended on a bit of a down note, it was still a solid week for the Habs as they put themselves back into a playoff spot for the time being.
Fresh off a big win over Buffalo, the Habs looked to make it two victories in as many nights as they took on Carolina on Sunday. However, a late goal from the Hurricanes got it to overtime where Andrei Svechnikov scored the winner to give them the 2-1 victory.
Laval’s third quarter had some ups and downs but a handful of forwards put forth impressive performances. Those players get the top nods as we wrap up our grades.
Despite facing some tough competition, Laval certainly held their own last week and picked up three of a possible six points along the way.
Scoring at five-on-five hasn’t been an issue for the Habs for most of the season but they struggled in that department this past week, picking up just a single win in three games to slip further out of the playoff picture.
Despite a rotating door of players, Laval was able to hold their own in the third quarter of the season. As usual, our grades begin with their goalies and defencemen.
February wasn’t a great month in Laval but the same can’t be said for Montreal’s junior prospects as several youngsters completely dominated in the month of February and get the spotlight in our three stars.
While a playoff spot is still highly unlikely, Laval was able to gain a little bit of ground on the fourth and final playoff spot in the North Division.
California has not been kind to the Habs in the past and that trend continued as they dropped two of three including one in embarrassing fashion to drop out of a playoff spot.
