HabsWorld.net --

It has been a season of firsts for rookie winger Juraj Slafkovsky.  His first game, his first goal, and now, his first suspension as the Department of Player Safety handed him a two-game suspension for his hit on Matt Luff on Tuesday.

The incident occurred late in the third period with the youngster receiving a five-minute major and a game misconduct on the play.  Luff, meanwhile, will undergo wrist surgery as a result of the hit and will miss the next 10-12 weeks.

Slafkovsky will miss Wednesday’s game against Vancouver as well as Saturday’s contest against Pittsburgh while forfeiting a little over $10,000 in salary.  Montreal will not be able to call someone up to take his place on the roster in the meantime as they weren’t able to with Josh Anderson who serves the final game of his ban tonight.  Accordingly, the Canadiens will either dress Michael Pezzetta on the fourth line or go with seven defencemen against the Canucks.
