HabsWorld.net --

For the second straight day, the Habs have pared down their training camp roster although only a pair of players are on their way to Laval.  The team announced that goalie Cayden Primeau and defenceman Otto Leskinen have both been assigned to the Rocket.

Neither cut comes as much of a surprise.  Primeau has long been speculated to be the starter in Laval after turning pro late last season.  He’s not going to be in the mix to back up Carey Price and with both him and Keith Kinkaid needing action this coming week, they may as well have him skating with the Rocket to get ready for their preseason games later this month.

As for Leskinen, he showed some offensive upside in his preseason action but his play in his own end certainly needs some work.  He struggled in his own zone on Saturday against Ottawa which cemented the fact that he’s not quite ready for NHL duty yet.

There are now a total of 16 players at Laval’s camp following the 14 cuts on Saturday while the Canadiens still have a long way to go to get to their season-opening roster.
