The Habs concluded their 2023 rookie tournament with a 2-1 record following a 2-1 victory over Ottawa on Monday. Here are some observations on some of the prospects that participated in the event.
The Habs have reportedly made a small addition to their prospect pool as they’ve acquired the rights to forward Jakov Novak from the Senators in exchange for future considerations.

When Logan Mailloux signed his entry-level deal last year, word came out that he was not eligible to play in the NHL. It appears that’s no longer the case according to a report from TVA Sports’ Renaud Lavoie.

It would be fair to say that Cayden Primeau’s time as a pro has had its ups and downs to the point where he’s on the borderline of being an NHL goaltender. Unfortunately for the Habs, there are about to be even more questions for him next season.
At this point of the summer, most of Montreal’s prospects either know or really have a good idea of where they’re likely to be playing when training camps open up in a couple of months. However, there are a pair of youngsters that don’t yet have a place to play in 2023-24.
