The month of February ended on a good note for Laval as the Rocket picked up a pair of victories in three games to remain within striking distance of a playoff spot.
Montreal’s farm team will soon be getting some help as Jesse Ylonen’s team in the SM-liiga (Pelicans) announced that he will be loaned to Laval after the weekend for the rest of the season.
After a brutal road trip, home ice proved to be just what Laval needed as they picked up five of six points at home to gain some ground in the playoff chase though the injury bug struck as well.
There isn’t likely to be much more movement on the trade front in Laval in the coming days after Thursday’s trade but there are still some players that have a chance to be dealt.
The Habs shook things up in Laval on Thursday, acquiring centre Joseph Blandisi and winger Jake Lucchini in exchange for centre Phil Varone and winger Riley Barber.
Laval’s road trip wrapped up in a disastrous fashion as they failed to record a single point in three games while Joel Bouchard showed a level of desperation we haven’t seen in his tenure behind the bench.
Laval faced off against a trio of divisional rivals last week. They managed to pick up three points along the way but a tough loss to Toronto knocked them out of a playoff spot.
Laval hosted Belleville for a pair of crucial divisional games last week and unfortunately for the Rocket, some reinforcements from the Habs weren’t enough to even manage a split.
Laval made up ground in the playoff race over the second quarter of the season on the shoulders of several high-scoring forwards who land the top grades as our report cards wrap up with a look up front.
