The Habs have signed one of their prospects from the draft back in June, announcing on Wednesday that they’ve signed defenceman Bryce Pickford to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Montreal’s goaltending pipeline features one of the better prospects in the league in Jacob Fowler. Behind him, the team has quietly amassed a solid group of prospects with some quiet upside.
A lack of discipline certainly proved costly for Laval last week as an on-ice incident led to four suspensions. Still, they managed to hold onto first in the division after picking up three points in three games.
November was an interesting month for Montreal’s prospects. In Laval, the Rocket had a better showing to move up the standings while several of their lesser-known unsigned youngsters had some impressive performances to earn a spot in our three stars.
After a solid showing in November, Laval kicked off the month of December on a strong note as well, picking up a pair of victories in three games to continue to sit atop the North Division.
After an extended break, Laval was back in action over the weekend with a pair of games on the road against the Atlantic Division. Both games were back-and-forth affairs but the Rocket came out victorious in both of them.
Laval was back at home last week for a trio of key divisional games. They didn’t start the greatest but rebounded well with a pair of weekend wins to stay atop the North Division standings.
While Laval kept losing players throughout the week, it didn’t seem to matter much as they picked up a pair of key victories including one over one of the top teams in the AHL to close a back-to-back road set.
Now that the dust has settled on an eventful start to November, let’s take a look back at last month and which Montreal prospects were the top performers.
