The 2025 World Junior Hockey Championship is set to run from December 26th through January 5th. While the Habs have been well-represented in recent years, it’s not the case as only one prospect will take part. We’ll keep track of his stats here.
Depending on how the season plays out, the Habs could find themselves with potentially two picks in this range. Here’s an early-season listing of some players who could be selected at the back half of the lottery.
Laval’s strong start to the season wasn’t believed to be sustainable and this past week showed that they’re starting to struggle, particularly their top forwards who were held off the scoresheet. However, an unlikely breakout game from the fourth line helped end the week on a winning note.
November was a rough month for the Habs and unfortunately, it wasn’t a great month for a lot of their prospects. However, there were a handful that were able to turn in solid showings and earn a spot in our monthly three stars.
After a rough week to end November, Laval got off to a much better start to kick off the month of December as they picked up five of a possible six points against division rivals although they lost a key player along the way.
The Habs made a small depth swap on Friday, announcing that they’ve traded winger Jacob Perreault to Edmonton in exchange for defenceman Noel Hoefenmayer. Hoefenmayer was subsequently assigned to Laval.
The first few picks post-lottery is where Montreal had one of its first-round picks land last year after trading up in the hours leading up to the draft. It’s quite possible they land there again this year with their extra selection; here are some players who could land within that area on draft night.
Home ice wasn’t too kind to Laval last week as they lost a pair of divisional games. However, they were able to still salvage something out of the week as they picked up a victory to kick off their second five-game road trip of the month.
We kick off our early-season first-round rankings with the players ranked 25 through 32. Depending on what happens with the pick acquired from Calgary in the initial Sean Monahan deal, the Habs could have a selection in this range.
