The Habs wrapped up their 2021-22 season last month with a couple of victories following a tough losing streak. Despite their overall struggles, there were some solid individual performances that helped them earn enough votes to be in the three stars.
On Monday, the NHL revealed the three finalists for the Bill Masterton Trophy. Canadiens goaltender Carey Price was among the group that will have a chance to win the award.
The month of April is typically one where prospects begin their playoffs but that wasn’t the case for many this season and several prospects from the Canadiens had strong finishes to their seasons, earning them a place in our three stars.
After a frustrating season that saw them finish dead last, the Habs anxiously waited on Tuesday to see if they’d hold onto the top pick in the Draft Lottery. They were able to do so and will have the number one selection on July 7th.
We’ll find out soon enough if the Habs are picking first in the upcoming draft in July. But even if the lottery doesn’t go their way on Tuesday, they’re still going to land a very good prospect.
Effective this season are two changes to the NHL Draft Lottery rules that place some limitations on teams moving up. Fortunately for the Habs, those rules shouldn’t hurt them in Tuesday’s festivities.
