Saturday’s Jekyll to Friday’s Hyde is a perfect example of why Montreal currently sits seven points out of the playoffs following a 4-1 loss at the hands of the Oilers. Luckily for the Habs, Antti Niemi kept the score respectable.

Montreal put together an excellent effort on Friday night and was rewarded with two points in the standings. Everyone chipped in and helped out, but the fourth line was once again the productive unit as they continue to put up important points on the board.

One of the main problems this season has been Montreal’s inability to stop opposition momentum as they allow consecutive goals which makes it near impossible to come back in games. Should the players, coaching, or management be held accountable?

Montreal’s scoring woes continued this past week although they were at least able to pick up a win in spite of that. Unfortunately, Laval wasn’t able to accomplish even that as they had a mix of bad offence in one game and bad defence and goaltending in the other that contributed to a pair of losses.

The Habs headed outdoors to kick off their road trip for the NHL100 Classic. The game was anything but a classic as the Canadiens failed to show up and the Senators skated home with a 3-0 victory.

Not only was Thursday’s game limited in scoring, it was also limited in terms of good offensive chances; this was a chess match of sorts. The end result was unsurprisingly close with the Habs taking it 2-1 in overtime.

While Marc Bergevin may believe the solution to Montreal’s struggles is in the dressing room, the time has come for him to consider changing things up.

Considering he hadn’t been playing much as of late, the Habs have loaned Victor Mete to Team Canada for the upcoming World Junior Championships.

While the Habs ended last week on a high note, the positive vibes ended there as they failed to pick up a win in three home games while picking up just a single point in the standings. Things weren’t any better in Laval either as the Rocket suffered the same fate.
