In a game where the Canadiens were unable to ever attack the middle of the ice because they were simply outworked in every single facet, the Bruins discarded them with relative ease as they skated to a 4-1 victory on Wednesday night.
The halfway point of the season has recently passed, and this is the first of two second quarter report card articles. This one focuses on Montreal’s goalies and defencemen.
Monday has already been a busy day for the Habs who have lost two players to injury while adding a newcomer via the waiver wire.
The Habs came out of their bye with a good performance against Boston but weren’t able to come home with a win. Things weren’t much better in Laval who managed to pick up one win in three games but lost ground in their pursuit of a playoff spot.
Montreal’s first game back after a one-week hiatus was played with much pace and emotion against the red-hot Bruins. Even though they lost 4-3 in overtime, this was a very entertaining game though many will be concerned for the health and wellness of Phillip Danault after he took a scary looking shot to the head near the end of the second period.
Max Pacioretty has seen his name come up in trade speculation due to his struggles and the Habs falling quickly out of the playoff race. Is this the right time to trade him though? Our writers offer up their thoughts.
December was another frustrating month for Canadiens’ fans, but our readers found some things to be happy about, with stars from throughout the lineup.
The week didn’t start well for the Habs but it ended on a better note with a pair of strong wins against Tampa Bay and Vancouver. As for Laval, their week went the opposite way – two straight losses to kick things off before picking up a victory at the end.
In a much less exciting game if compared to Thursday’s win, the Habs still controlled much of the game versus the Canucks on Sunday, picking up an important 5-2 win.
