The road was not kind to the Habs last week as they dropped all three games and as a result, they’ve basically blown their cushion on Carolina for a playoff spot.

Rare have been the losses this season that have reminded fans of last season. However, Sunday’s effort in Florida, a 6-3 loss, was a game that looked like 2017-18 and reminded us how much better this season has been.

Despite playing an excellent first 40 minutes on the road, the Habs lost their focus in the third and the NHL-best Lightning took advantage of this by scoring three to win 3-0 on Saturday night.

It wasn’t a terrible effort by the Habs, but the Predators were more determined in the first and third period and that effort ended up on the scoreboard as they beat the Habs 3-1 in Nashville on Thursday night.

Monday’s acquisition of Nate Thompson meant that another roster spot needed to be opened up. Michael Chaput is the one losing his spot on the roster after clearing waivers on Wednesday.

The Canadiens added some centre depth, acquiring Nate Thompson in exchange from the Kings for Calgary’s fourth round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. The Canadiens also received Arizona’s fifth round pick from the Kings in the deal.

Kenny Agostino’s time with the Canadiens has come to an end. After being placed on waivers on Sunday, he was claimed by New Jersey on Monday.

Fresh off a decent showing on Super Bowl weekend, the Habs had another strong week as they collected five of a possible six points to wrap up their lengthy home stand.

The Habs went into play on Saturday night looking to sweep the week as they took on Toronto. While they had the lead a couple of times, they weren’t able to make it stick as they fell 4-3 in overtime.
