The Habs had plenty of power play opportunities on Saturday in Chicago but the game was still tied into the dying seconds. However, a late Kaiden Guhle point shot got past Spencer Knight to give Montreal the 3-2 victory.
Saturday’s rematch against the Senators didn’t feature anywhere near the level of physicality of Tuesday’s game but it also didn’t feature much offence from the Habs as they fell 3-1.
After getting outclassed by a much weaker Toronto lineup on Thursday, the Habs flipped the script on Saturday in the rematch. The Canadiens sent a much weaker lineup on the road but it didn’t matter as Montreal picked up the 4-2 win.
The Habs picked up their first lead of the series on Wednesday in Washington but it was short-lived, requiring an attempt at another third-period comeback. They once again saved their best for last but came up short, falling 3-1.
Ivan Demidov had a very strong NHL debut on Monday night against Chicago but it wasn’t enough to help the Habs clinch a playoff spot. They got one point closer to doing so however, as they fell 4-3 in a shootout.
The Habs played their final road game of the regular season on Saturday in Toronto. However, they weren’t able to get many shots through on goal while Mitch Marner scored the only goal of the night in the opening minute of overtime, meaning Montreal will have to wait a little longer to clinch a playoff spot.
The Habs didn’t bring their best game to Nashville on Sunday night as shots and scoring chances were rather limited. But Jakub Dobes came up big, turning aside 36 of 37 shots and a pair of early second-period goals held up as Montreal picked up the 2-1 win.
The Habs were able to salvage something from their road trip on Sunday afternoon. Nick Suzuki’s early goal in the third period was the difference-maker in a 4-2 Montreal victory.
Jakub Dobes had a strong game on Saturday night in Calgary, holding the Flames to just a single goal. However, Calder Trophy contender Dustin Wolf was even better at the other end, keeping the Habs off the scoreboard to give the home side the 1-0 win.
The Habs were able to bounce back from a second period deficit on Saturday night in Buffalo. Alex Newhook’s late goal in that period was the eventual winner as Montreal picked up the 4-2 victory.
