The Habs were able to come back from a two-goal deficit in the third period against Seattle on Saturday night but they weren’t able to secure the victory as the Kraken had the lone goal in the shootout in the seventh round to secure the extra point.
The Habs didn’t win the battle of video reviews on Saturday night in Edmonton as all three reviews went the way of the home side. However, Montreal won the battle on the scoreboard by scoring three more than the Oilers, skating away with the 5-2 victory.
Andrew Hammond’s return to Ottawa was a good one as he made 26 saves to help lead the Canadiens to their fifth-straight win on Saturday night with a 2-1 win over the Senators.
It looked as if Montreal was heading for yet another loss on Thursday when St. Louis scored late in regulation. However, Cole Caufield tied it up in the dying seconds and scored the overtime winner for good measure, giving the Habs a 3-2 victory and ending their ten-game losing streak.
Samuel Montembeault had one of his strongest performances of the season on Saturday afternoon against Columbus but he couldn’t get much goal support. In the end, a power play goal from Patrik Laine in the dying seconds of regulation time was the difference-maker as the Habs fell 2-1.
Montreal was able to hold Edmonton to well below their season average in shots on goal on Saturday night but it didn’t matter much as some defensive breakdowns proved costly with the Oilers skating away with a 7-2 win.
Cayden Primeau had a strong showing on Saturday night in Colorado, helping the Habs skate away with a point as they made it to overtime. However, Gabriel Landeskog scored the winner in OT, securing a 3-2 win for the Avalanche.
The Habs had some good moments in Chicago on Thursday in the second half of a back-to-back set but in the end, they fell 3-2 in OT with the winner being counted on a particularly strange play following two separate reviews.
At five-on-five, the Habs were able to play Carolina to a draw on Thursday night. However, the Hurricanes dominated in the special teams department, picking up three power play goals plus a shorthanded marker to skate away with a 4-0 victory.
