In a game decided by a score that looked more like a beer league game, the porous defensive effort finally cost the Habs as they fell 7-6 in overtime to the Canucks on Monday night despite being up 4-0 for a large portion of the contest.
Thursday was a big night for Sean Monahan in his return to Calgary but Jake Allen stole the show for the Habs, making 45 saves as the Canadiens were able to score just enough to beat the Flames 2-1.
Wednesday’s contest certainly isn’t going to be one to remember but the Habs were able to pick a trio of goals in the third period which was enough to pull off the victory in Columbus as Montreal skated away with the 3-1 win.
Some sloppy defensive play got the Habs off to a slow start on Thursday in Columbus. While they were able to come back a couple of times, the Blue Jackets had their best offensive game of the season which helped lead them to a 6-4 victory.
The Habs got off to a hot start against Vancouver on Wednesday night, notching the first four goals of the game. That was more than enough to get them through the game as they came away with a 5-2 victory.
In a game that was wildly entertaining and very physical on Thursday, the Habs showed an ability to keep up with a team playing a different style of game. In the end, they lost 3-2 in overtime to Winnipeg, but this was a game where both teams skated away feeling quite good about their respective games.
Samuel Montembeault was in fine form on Thursday night as the Habs kicked off a four-game road trip in Buffalo and skated away with a 3-2 victory that also featured Kaiden Guhle’s first career NHL goal.
The Canadiens weren’t able to end their home stand on a high note as Minnesota was able to skate away with a 3-1 victory on Tuesday night.
Thursday night was all Habs for the first 40 minutes as the kids showed up to play, the veterans followed suit, and the fans in attendance were treated to a big fight, Juraj Slafkovsky’s first, and total domination by the home team who is now 3-0 on home ice this season while playing some offensive and entertaining hockey as they beat Arizona 6-2.
