Like many of you I am a life-long Habs fan first and foremost. I am also a retired Earth Scientist. Throughout my entire career I have worked with databases and statistics, which has taught me how to extract meaningful information from it. Now that advanced stats are becoming common place in hockey, I hope to provide the reader with a more rational, data-driven analysis of the team, the players, and the decisions taken by the coaching staff.

Right now, the Panthers have the winning blueprint following back-to-back Stanley Cup titles. The Canadiens have some similarities to Florida’s approach but one significant divergence from their divisional rival as well.
