The departure of Marc Bergevin didn’t come as much surprise after word leaked out of some of the other pending front office changes but it was still a notable departure.  Our writers weigh in with their thoughts on the decision to part ways.

It’s now official.  The Canadiens will be looking for a new general manager as Marc Bergevin has been relieved of his duties as has long-time executive Trevor Timmins.

While the biggest news of the week for the Habs has come off the ice, there were still three games for the Canadiens over the past seven days. As has been the theme this season, they only managed to win one of those.

The Habs have a vacancy in their front office the team confirmed on Saturday night that Scott Mellanby has resigned as their Assistant GM.

After picking up a win on Saturday, the Habs were back in action Wednesday to try to make it back-to-back victories for the first time this season. However, they forgot that consistent effort was required in order to make that happen as they struggled mightily for long stretches in a 6-3 loss.

It was a light week for Laval as they only had a pair of road games on the schedule with their lone victory coming against Toronto in what was a thrilling comeback as they hang around the playoff mix in the North Division.

The past week for the Habs featured three different types of games – a close one, a blowout loss, and a mostly blowout win. In the end, the end result in the standings was pretty much the same as they picked up just the one victory which led to some more desperate roster movement than usual.

The Habs made a roster swap on Thursday in advance of their game against Pittsburgh, recalling Cole Caufield from AHL Laval.  To make room on the roster, Alex Belzile was sent to the Rocket.
