There were some ups and downs for Laval over the past week but they were able to come away with a pair of much-needed victories as they look to start trying to climb out of the basement in the Eastern Conference.
Montreal’s first two games of the last week weren’t particularly strong performances. The last one wasn’t the greatest at times either but a late comeback against the Flyers allowed them to come away with a single victory instead of a week of losses.
With the month of November not going so well for the Habs so far, let’s take one last look back at what was a more successful month on the ice as we look at who our readers voted for as October’s stars.
After a tough end to their long homestand, Laval was out on the road last week for three games in as many days. The changes of venue didn’t make too much of a difference; they were able to get a victory but continue to struggle offensively.
Rem Pitlick’s time with Laval turned out to be relatively brief as the Habs announced on Wednesday that they’ve recalled him from Laval. To make room for him on the roster, Jonathan Drouin was placed on injured reserve.
The Habs were hoping to snap New Jersey’s nine-game win streak as they hosted the Devils on Tuesday. While they played well early, they faded as the game went along as the visitors skated away with a 5-1 victory.
The month of October was an eventful one for many of Montreal’s top prospects with several star-worthy candidates as our monthly Three Stars return.
Montreal’s top line continues to score at a high-end pace while they received some secondary goal support, an area of concern early on in the season. The end result was an impressive three-game winning streak.
Generating scoring chances wasn’t a problem for Laval last week. However, capitalizing on enough of them to win was indeed a problem as the Rocket managed only a pair of overtime losses, ending their season-long home stand on a losing note.
