Starting extension talks with Samuel Montembeault so early in the season might seem a bit strange after no movement on that front in the summer. But it just might be the domino that needs to fall to solve the three-goalie challenge.

Last week was an eventful one for the Habs. They picked up a pair of overtime victories but those were book-ended by a pair of losses to keep the Canadiens just outside the playoff picture.

With Jordan Harris being a game-time decision tonight against Vancouver, the Habs needed to get an extra defenceman on the roster.  That player is Gustav Lindstrom who has been recalled from Laval.  To make room, Joel Armia was sent to the Rocket.

The Habs were back on the road on Thursday as they travelled to Detroit to take on the Red Wings. While they gave up the lead in the third, they were able to overcome it with a 3-2 overtime victory.

The Habs had a relatively successful month of October, playing well enough to find themselves in a playoff spot with a handful of players getting off to good starts. Not surprisingly, the fan vote for our three stars was pretty close. Here are the results.

After a Western road trip yielded little success, the Habs were looking to turn things around as they returned home to host Tampa Bay on Tuesday night. However, they couldn’t overcome a disastrous first period, ultimately falling 5-3.

As is often the case, Montreal’s road trip out West wasn’t the most successful in the standings. While they had one of their best outings of the season in Vegas, that was the only point they were able to muster up.

The month of October was a pretty good one for the Habs, all things considered as they posted a 5-2-2 record for the month with some veterans leading the way. Vote now for your three stars.
