With the season over, it’s time to wrap up and move forward. This week, the final Hamilton grades are the focus while Montreal’s other minor league affiliate awaits its 3rd round opponent after a 2nd round sweep.
The 2009 IIHF World Hockey Championships concluded this past Sunday, with six players representing the Habs organization throughout the tournament.
It was a week of major disappointment for Montreal fans, as the sweep was concluded by Boston as injuries continued to mount for the Habs.
It was not the start to the postseason that any Montreal fan envisioned, a pair of losses and even more questions between the pipes.
The following are the final regular season grades for the Habs. Although the Recap was not published on Sunday, grades were recorded for the last week and are noted in the “This Week” column.
The Habs continued their strong play this week, and now are on the verge of securing a playoff spot.
For the first time in what feels like ages, the Habs actually took advantage of their weaker opponents, picking up 5 of 6 points to put themselves in a slightly better position for the playoffs.
The struggles continued for the Habs this week, as they picked up just 1 of a possible 6 points, falling to the 8th and final playoff spot, holding on for dear life.
Montreal’s coaching change failed to bring about any immediate dividends, as the team went just 1-2 in their first week under Bob Gainey.
