It wasn’t a pretty week for Montreal’s defence corps as a multitude of breakdowns strongly contributed to a pair of losses against teams behind them in the standings.
There was a lot of negativity surrounding the Habs this past week but at the end of the day, it was a successful one as the team took two of three games.
The Habs managed to keep pace in the Atlantic Division in the second quarter of the season despite inconsistent and sporadic contributions from many of their forwards.
The halfway point of the 2013-14 season has come and gone and despite their struggles and the negativity surrounding the team, the Habs find themselves comfortably in a playoff position.
December is always a big month for young prospects. Those that are junior aged are vying for spots at the World Juniors and the Habs had no fewer than six players suit up for their countries.
It was a reversal of recent fortune for the Habs. They managed to score some goals but the defence and goaltending struggled, resulting in a pair of OT losses sandwiching a win.
The round robin portion of the 2014 World Juniors has come to an end with all six Hab prospects moving on to the medal round.
The Habs’ recent woes continue but they were able to squeak out a win over a pair of weekend games to keep pace in the Atlantic.
The 2014 World Juniors will be taking place from December 26th through January 5th.
