Although the week ended in an ugly fashion, it was still a pretty successful Western Canadian road trip for the Habs who took two of three games. Laval managed to pick up a win but their penchant for allowing untimely goals and struggling to score consistently continued as they continue to fall in the standings.
After a bit of a delay, we’ve reached the top-ten in our annual prospect rankings series. This group is highlighted by a first-rounder who may be nearing the end of his rope plus a mid-round selection who has vastly exceeded expectations.
Montreal’s scoring woes continued this past week although they were at least able to pick up a win in spite of that. Unfortunately, Laval wasn’t able to accomplish even that as they had a mix of bad offence in one game and bad defence and goaltending in the other that contributed to a pair of losses.
The Habs headed outdoors to kick off their road trip for the NHL100 Classic. The game was anything but a classic as the Canadiens failed to show up and the Senators skated home with a 3-0 victory.
With the last few weeks being disastrous for the Laval Rocket, let’s look back at the better part of their season instead with their first quarter grades.
Considering he hadn’t been playing much as of late, the Habs have loaned Victor Mete to Team Canada for the upcoming World Junior Championships.
While the Habs ended last week on a high note, the positive vibes ended there as they failed to pick up a win in three home games while picking up just a single point in the standings. Things weren’t any better in Laval either as the Rocket suffered the same fate.
November was an up-and-down month for the Habs and the same could be said for their farm team and other prospects. Some players still stood out amongst the rest; here are our 3 Stars for the month.
Montreal’s offence came to life as they picked up a critical four victories to get themselves back in the postseason picture. The opposite occurred in Laval as their scoring struggles continued which resulted in them dropping out of a playoff spot for the time being.
Brandon Davidson is heading back to where it all began as the Oilers claimed him off waivers from Montreal on Sunday.
