The Canadiens continued their quest for a playoff spot throughout February, posting a 6-5-2 record but they find themselves in a battle for a wildcard spot as the calendar turns to March.

Though the numbers are a bit inflated due to the 8-1 drubbing of the Red Wings, the offensive stars put up solid point totals during February and the team is 14th in goals scored despite having the 30th-ranked power play in the league. Marc Bergevin essentially decided to stick to the plan at the trade deadline, adding depth pieces in Jordan Weal, Dale Weise, and Nate Thompson but refused to deal the Habs’ future away for a quick fix.
