Despite finishing with a strong push, Montreal’s October record (4-5-2) was
unlikely what Canadiens’ fans had hoped for in the off-season. The month’s
initial theme was injuries, and it was announced early that Montreal’s best defenceman,
Andrei Markov, would miss the start of the season after his knee rehabilitation
suffered a setback. His replacement, Chris Campoli, went down with a
hamstring injury the first game, and was followed to the IR by Mike
Cammalleri and Jaroslav Spacek in game 2. These injuries
precipitated a 6-game losing streak for the Canadiens, which ended in the abrupt
dismissal of assistant coach, Perry Pearn. This coaching change seemed to
spark the Canadiens, revive the special teams and allow the Habs to win three
games in a row to close out October.
Coaching changes notwithstanding, we here at Habsworld would like to know
which individuals you feel were most important to Montreal’s successes thus far
in the early season. Only players that played at least 4 games will be up
for consideration. Simply select the 3 players you feel are most
