HW Updates, by Dan Linn

2004 World Junior Championship at Helsinki – Also taken in
the 2002 draft in the 2nd round, 45th overall, Linhart
made his first trip to the WJC’s, but was able to play on one of the top
pairings, perhaps due to his experience this year playing in the top mens
division in the Czech league. With the lose of their top defensemen, Linhart had
to pick up the slack, as his team played in the Bronze medal game, but could not
beat the host country in a closely fought game. Tomas used his size well, and
with some improved skating, he was able to keep up with the quick forwards and
get a few crushing hits, but in his own end, he was overmatched at times.

March 2004 – Playoffs Report – HC Moeller Pardubice– Tomas
Linhart has been the journeymen of the Hab prospects, as he has played in all
different leagues and for different teams as well. This year he has suited up in
the playoffs for HC Moeller Pardubice, which is the highest senior level in the
Czech league, where he’s played in five games and is a +5. He’s also played for
HC Hradec Kralove, which is the 2nd highest senior league, where he’s
played in three games and is a -1.

February 2004 – Linhart has been the traveling man, as he
has played in three different leagues, and played for the U-20 Czech National
team. After spending one season in North America last year, Linhart has returned
home to the Czech league, where he has seen time with Pardubice in the highest
junior league. He has also spent time in the mens league with HC VCE Hradec, the
second highest level of hockey in the Czech Republic. And he has also spent time
playing for HC Moeller, which is the highest level of hockey, but Linhart hasn’t
seen much time in that league so far. Hopefully he is picking up things from
each level of play, as he is still very young, having turned 20 years old this

January 2004 – Returning from the recent U-20 tournament,
where he played on the top pairing at times, but his team was unable to medal
this year. Linhart continues to spend time in the top league, the Mens Div I,
while also seeing time in the Czech junior league as well.

December 2003 – Playing in the Mens Div 1, and spending time
in the junior league as well, Linhart has been shipped around this year, but is
getting playing time in both leagues. He should play in the upcoming WJC
tournament for the Czech team.

November 2003 – Playing in the Mens Div 1, and spending time
in the junior league as well, Linhart has been shipped around this year, but is
getting playing time in both leagues. He also played for the Czech Junior
National Team, in a recent U-20 tournament. He has played for two different
teams in the mens league, which I don’t have a reason as to why just yet.

October 2003 – Somewhat like Kastsitsyn, Linhart has been on
a yo-yo, playing in the mens league, Division 1, and also getting some games in
with the junior club as well. He has just recently played for another Division 1
team, but I have not been able to get the details as to why this has happened.

September 2003 – After playing one season in the OHL,
Linhart was released from the London Knights, so he has gone back to his
homeland to play in the Czech men’s league. He has spent time in between two
leagues, play two games in what appears to be the mens league, where he is a +2.
He has also played in the junior league I believe (I can’t read Czech) where he
has played four games, picking up one assist so far.
