Jake Allen had a strong showing in Colorado on Monday night but while he was able to steal the Habs one point, Montreal couldn’t come away with the other as the Avalanche picked up the 2-1 overtime victory.
The Habs played a rare afternoon weekday game on Friday in Chicago. The Blackhawks tied the game late in the third, eventually setting the stage for Kirby Dach to get some revenge against his former team as he scored the winner in the shootout.
It looked as if the Habs were going to lose their third straight on Saturday night but a late goal from Cole Caufield forced overtime and Montreal eventually came away victorious in the shootout, beating the Flyers 5-4.
The goals came early and often in the third period on Saturday night, setting the stage for another overtime contest against Pittsburgh. For the second time this season against them, the Habs were victorious in the extra session as Mike Hoffman potted the winner for a 5-4 victory.
The Habs kept pace early on against Vegas on Saturday night but the Golden Knights gained more control as the game went along, eventually skating away with the 6-2 victory.
Saturday night was a sloppy affair between the Habs and Stars with the teams combining for many turnovers in a high-speed affair. However, it was the visitors who skated away with the win as Dallas picked up the 5-2 victory.
The Habs had the lead early in the second period on Saturday in Washington but allowed three unanswered before the middle frame came to an end. That was the difference as they fell to the Capitals 3-1.
The Habs had one last chance to get in the win column on Saturday night before the preseason game to an end but came up short as they fell 3-2 in overtime to Ottawa, ending the exhibition season with a ‘perfect’ winless record.
The Habs were able to get some offensive production on Saturday night in Ottawa but once again, they weren’t able to hold onto a lead in the third period, eventually falling 5-4 in overtime.
