(TSN) The Montreal Canadiens have acquired center Jim Dowd from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a fourth round draft pick, TSN has learned.
Dowd has four goals and 24 points in 55 games this season but has missed the last 10 games with a groin injury.
The 35 year old is a versatile forward who can be used in a variety of situations and does a solid job at both ends of the ice. He was also a member of the Stanley Cup winning New Jersey Devils in 1994-95.
It’s the second deal in three days for the Canadiens, who acquired sniper Alexei Kovalev from the New York Rangers on Tuesday.
Dowd joined the team today and could play tomorrow against Phoenix.
