HabsWorld Podcast – Episode 108

Episode 62 of the HabsWorld podcast

Although the Montreal Canadiens have been eclipsed by most teams in the NHL standings, they continue to give a competitive effort every game this season. HabsWorld podcast host Norm Szcyrek was joined by cohosts Paul MacLeod, Sean Cayouette, and Jonathan Rebelo to talk about our beloved Montreal Canadiens, several hockey topics, and share a lot of laughs. This podcast was recorded on the evening of April 8, 2024.

We have a full roster of topics including:

– Introductions, Habs Trivia

– The renaissance of Joel Armia

– Sports psychology and that role on the Canadiens; could Josh Anderson benefit from that type of therapy?

– Nick Suzuki breaking the 70-point mark

– With Habs prospect Florian Xhekaj’s season over, could he sign with Montreal or Laval soon?  (Xhekaj signed with the Canadiens after the podcast was recorded.)

– Jonathan shares his game notes from watching David Reinbacher’s first games for Laval

– Discussing AHL farm hands Justin Barron, Sean Farrell, Logan Mailloux, and Jacob Dobes

– Talk about Cayden Primeau’s improved play, and whether he could challenge Montembeault for the number one role next season

– Discussions about the terrible officiating during the recent Tampa Bay and Florida games

– Has Arber Xhekaj been told by Montreal’s coaches not to fight or has he been playing injured recently? (The announcement that Xhekaj was undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery came after recording.)

– Slafkovsky’s improved play helped him to set a Canadiens record for points by a teenager

– Should Slafkovsky be left on the top line next season, or moved back to Kirby Dach’s line?

– Habs Prospect watch: Oliver Kapanen and Lane Hutson

– Around the NHL topics discussed: potential teams that we’d like to make the playoffs or not make the playoffs; early playoff predictions; Scottsdale, Arizona mayor talking about Arizona’s land bid and their potential new arena news; Alex Ovechkin’s second half goal-scoring push to chase the NHL record
