Wanted: Offence

Evidently, changing goaltenders on a weekly basis will not be a key to success for the Hamilton Bulldogs this season.  Cristobal Huet in week 1 of his conditioning stint suffered a pair of losses, despite allowing just 5 goals.  The big killer for the Dogs this week?  They scored just 2 goals in 3 games, and that won’t get it done at any level.

Lineup Notes:

Another week, another goalie, as Cristobal Huet joined the team for a 2-week conditioning stint, while Yann Danis was recalled to Montreal.  The conditioning period ends no later than Monday, November 28; Danis will be sent down by then.  Maxim Lapierre spent the majority of the week with the Canadiens, making his NHL debut, but rejoined the team for Saturday’s game in Iowa.  G Olivier Michaud was assigned to Long Beach (ECHL) to get some game action.  D Dan Smith was re-assigned to the Bulldogs early Sunday and will suit up next week.

Did you Know?:

Despite Dallas having 5 players affiliated with the Bulldogs last season, only 2 of them were in Iowa’s lineup vs the Bulldogs, D Dan Jancevski and backup G Dan Ellis.  The other 3, Antti Miettinen, Trevor Daley, and Steve Ott are all in Dallas.  Hamilton’s contests vs Omaha and Iowa were both firsts in franchise history.

Cheers and Jeers:

Cheers go out to:
C Garth Murray, for FINALLY hitting the scoresheet, notching half of the team’s goals this week.  No wonder they lost all 3 games.
C Maxim Lapierre, for outplaying players such as Murray, Milroy, and Kostitsyn, earning the first recall of the season.

Jeers go out to:
The team’s offence, 2 goals in 3 games…need I say more?
Don Lever, who, despite the team’s offensive woes, dresses both Peter Vandermeer and Raitis Ivanans for all 3 games this week.

Goalie Zone:

This was one of those weeks where the win-loss record doesn’t tell the whole story, as Huet played well in his 2 losses, while Jeff Deslauriers was outstanding vs the Stars.
