Back to the drawing board

This past week will be one that the Hamilton Bulldogs try to forget in a hurry, after dropping 3 of 4 contests, despite being in every game.  The week began with a 3-2 loss at home vs Syracuse, before the team got revenge in their barn, 7-6 on Friday, before it went downhill.  Saturday represented a 4-2 loss to division rival Rochester, while Hershey took care of them Sunday, by a similar score.

Did you know?:

Sunday’s matchup between the Hershey Bears and the Hamilton Bulldogs was the first time in 4 years that the two teams met at Copps Coliseum.

Cheers and Jeers of the Week:

Cheers go out to:
– Rookies Andre Benoit and J-F Jacques, who have taken the league by storm, and are averaging a point-per-game through the first month of the season.
– C Maxim Lapierre and D Danny Syvret, who recorded their first career points this week.  Lapierre had 3 assists, while Syvret had 1.

Jeers go out to:
– D Johnathan Aitken…you mope about a lack of playing time, and then get assessed an intent to injure penalty in your first game of the week.  You’ll have plenty of time to think about what you did…as you serve a suspension.  Way to go.
– C Garth Murray – I know offence isn’t your greatest asset, but how ’bout throwing us a bone every now and then?  0 points and a -1 in 9 games isn’t leaving too many fans appeased.
– Head coach Don Lever for his handling of the goalie situation.  G Ty Conklin was sent down on a 2-week conditioning stint…and yet somehow isn’t even dressed for the final 2 games of the week.  And for that matter, Jeff Deslauriers doesn’t see a whiff of ice time in 4 games in 5 days.

Goalie Zone:

It was not the week of the goalie, as the club surrendered a whopping 17 goals in 4 games this week.  Let’s leave it at that, shall we?
